Four CLHS Students Missing in Boat Mishap

GEORGETOWN: The body of one of the five Chung Ling High School students, who went missing after their boat capsized in strong waves off Macallum Street Ghaut here, has been found.

Rescue workers found the body at 2.45pm on Sunday, believed to be that of Jason Ch'ng.

According to George Town acting OCPD Supt Gan Kong Meng, Ch’ng’s body was found under a boat not far from the shore.

Earlier, the body of their teacher Chin Aik Siang, 27, who was the school’s dragon boat team advisor, was found at about 11am.

A total of 17 students, aged between 16 and 17 years, and their teacher-cum-coach were training for a dragon boat race when the incident occurred at about 9am on Sunday just as the team was doing the final lap before returning to the shore.

The boat capsized when the students were doing a sharp manoeuvre, which hit a tug boat.

It is believed that strong currents had pulled the students into the water.

Twelve other students however managed to swim to the shore.

Some of them swam about 1km while some were rescued by two passing fishing boats.

A search and rescue operation has been mounted by the police, the Fire and Rescue Department and the Civil Defence Department.

The sunken boat has been recovered and towed to the shore.

Meanwhile, parents of the missing students are keeping a vigil near the scene.

Many of them were seen weeping openly and are being consoled by their relatives.

Those missing have been identified as Brandon Yeoh, Jason Ch’ng, Koh Yiz Hiang, Cheah Zi Jun, all 17, and Yong Xiang, 16.

It is learnt that some of the 17 students were not wearing life jackets.

It is learnt that the teacher Chin had only been recently appointed to the post.

He had been teaching science and mathematics for the past two years.

His body was sent to the Penang Hospital for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, Kuah Zi Xun, 17, who swam to the shore, said the strong current pulled down the students.

“Some of the who were wearing life jackets were also pulled down. I hope all my friends are safe,” he said.

Currently, more than 100 personnel from St John Ambulance, Rela, Penang Hospital, volunteer firefighters and divers from the Fire and Rescue Services department are involved in the search operations.

Penang police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Wira Ayub Yaakob told a press conference that the incident occurred about 150m from the shore.

“We are still investigating how many of them were wearing life jackets,” he said.

CLHS Boys in Disted

It's been sometime since i blogged. haha,sorry guys! Finally it's 2010,new year new hopes! I'm studying South Australian Matriculation (S.A.M) in Disted College currently,and i'm supposed to sleep now...early class tomorrow =.=

anyway,i'm glad i went to disted,made lotsa new friends and a brand new study environment. Took 3 science subjects,ESL and another one would either be Mathematical Studies or Psychology (still unsure). Timetables are crazy in disted,pity those A levels students who don't have time for lunch *haiz* and i have a complete 4hours of free period in friday.
Hope i can cope with all the tough science subjects!

2010 means :

1) For the next 10 years, it will be 2011, 2012, 2013, etc...

2) Within the next 10 years, I will graduate and I expect myself to have a proper job and career

3) Within the next 10 years, If I'm lucky enough, I might be married .

4) Within the next 10 years, I'll be hitting 20s

5) Within the next 10 years, I should have attended some of my friend's wedding

So, I guess you got my drift, within the next decade, so much things gonna happen!

Mum's Convocation in USM

Skived school on Thursday to attend mummy’s convocation ceremony in USM. It was a BIG day for all of us as mum finally ended her Degree –

Bachelor of Social Science in Economics

for five whole years.

Congrats Mum!

That was really a stupendous achievement!

To finish a degree when you’re working and studying at the same time makes life a lot more bitter than a normal undergraduate. You have to cope with your studies,working pressure,and family too… Well,my mum isn’t any ordinary woman. No. She’s our superwoman. I’m not being modest,trying to show off but after five years of struggle,struggle and struggle again in her assignments and taking care of the entire household,I simply couldn’t deny that she’s super. Just take a look at her exam results… She earned Usm’s Dean List (Best student award) for a consecutive three years,and was always top in every subject… Except Islamic studies I think… But anyway,who gives a damn about this lamer-than-lame subject? Not even malays I’m afraid….
As we only had 2 tickets for entries into the hall,me and dad went to view the entire ceremony,leaving Zhen and Jia wandering outside.Oops. The Graduating ceremony turned out to be as boring as my moral lesson at school. Well,I’ve got my headphones with me so MJ and Debussy’s music filled my ears throughout the long-winded function rather than those wheezy professors calling out strings of graduates name and useless speeches…

Spent half of my first day of June in the Pusat Latihan Memandu Penang for the Lima Jam Setengah Undang Lecture. Believe it or not,there were only 8 people present today! (7 of them are chinese,including me) The whole hall was a bit too quiet and we were very lucky to have the 'best' lecturer on-air.

The first one-Mr Yusri,nice guy with a Robbert Pattinson hair style. Laughed a lot over his jokes during his lecture session. ^^

Always curi tulang with excuses like: hari ini sikit orang,i boleh habis ceramah dalam masa 2 jam saja... you orang sudah minum ke? i bagi you semua pi rehat... kantin ada di belakang,pi makan lah... i bagi masa 1.30 jam rehat...

Second one-Mr Sin,strict guy that looks almost like a malay. Well,his lecture was quite boring but at least i learnt some tips on car parking :)

Then i met a new friend there...Esther!!

Because of her i manage to solve Rubik's Cube twice in an hour. Woo,thanks!!

Well,she was the friendliest among the teens there. I'm impressed with her social skills,she seemed to know everyone in just 5 hours...

Holidays Are Here!!

To all my form 5 buddies,do enjoy our last ever June holidays. After this year,we'll end our secondary school life. And there will never be a mid-year 2 weeks holiday again... So,play as crazy as you can and study as much as possible.

(no joke,SPM's right around the corner!)

Finished our 2nd term exam in CLHS before the hols,did add maths very badly,probably will fail again... Promised my parents to try my very best in percubaan though. Anyone willing to give me private lessons on add maths? I'm willing to pay as long as you're good! NO joke!

Hey guys!! i'm so so sorry for the very late updates... i'm Busy+Lazy recently,haha,paiseh yar... Yesterday was "CLHS chinese orchectra's concert" Day and me as a 华乐member participated in the performance =P haha. Special thanks to my brothers- Khye Shen,Nerry,Phern Kern,Shaun for showing up... then to the girls- Zhao Min,Chaw Yeh who decided going at the very last minute... haha! Thanks for the support,i really appreciate it!!

Orchestra Rehearsal at Dewn Sri Pinang before the concert :) we started our practice from 9am-7.25pm then the concert starts on 8pm. The practice was very tiring,i get exhausted before the performance started. haha.

sorry yar,i didn't take any photos on the concert. Cause i'm at the back stage all the time...

i'm so not satisfied with our team's performance in the concert. After all the practice and everything,we didn't showed the crowd our best. I need to apologise too for the mistakes i made in 东海渔歌... Sorry,team!!

Yeah!! Every form5 students were given permission to bring cameras today!! haha,they just want us to capture some nice pictures in class for the Graduation Magazine class photo section,but we extended our photo-taking background from our class till the Boy's Toilet xD Woo... really had fun playing with the cam whole day,and thanks to the 5SA5 siao kia for some COOL poses for my blog :) hehe

After i learned the basics,he fished me out again by saying that 琵琶 is too difficult for me... Ish,no one dares to criticise my talent and passion for music before!! (except khye shen) hell... so,i took 大阮 instead =) It's like guitar and probably the easiest among the string instruments they got there =) special thanks to 航澍 and 文伟 for the lecture and demonstrating of the basics... Arigato...

CNY in Kedah

As usual,i went back to kedah to celebrate CNY with my BIG family =) both my parents are from kedah,same high school some more,that's how they met and eventually my dad ask my mum out then... they get married lo... xD

First Week in 5SA5

Finally it's the first weekend in the year 2009! Phew... lot's of homework yesterday_BM essay,English essay,Addmath exercise... Gosh,it's a hard year for us afterall =(

Nothing to talk much about my new class,everything's going on fine and i almost knew 3/4 of the students in A5 =) It's just the teachers i'm worrying about,better hope they're the hardworking ones,if not i might as well go gantung diri before SPM...

Joined Squash club,Computer club and CHINESE ORCHESTRA this year for my activities. Guys,i've got no choice but to choose chinese orchestra cause i'm late for the sign-up and almost all uniform activities stall were closed... Hahaha! But i'm ok with that,no big deal =)

Then went for lunch with Alvin,Pkern,Nerry,Wsiang,Patrick.... at a restaurant at Crystal Point. Paiseh,i've forgotten the restaurant's name =D it's a farewell meal for our beloved brother-Alvin(the Chipmunk) who's leaving to Aussie tonight on 9pm...

Promise to visit us every year yar!

其实我想推荐这部电影很久了,只是一直都没时间update...拍写拍写...

虽然没有那些实力派的打牌演员,但是我觉得《海角七号》这部电影的剧情超棒!!且胜过了周杰伦主演的《不能说的秘密》=)

这部没有大牌导演、大牌明星的小成本电影，靠什么俘获了台湾民众的心？

小人物悲欢引共鸣

　　60多年前，台湾光复，日本人撤离。一名日籍男老师只身搭上了离开台湾的船只，也离开了他的台湾女友——友子。在略带伤感的音乐中，影片拉开序幕，这位日本男老师写给友子的7封信，成了贯穿全剧的主轴。60多年后，一个在台北奋斗15年铩羽而归的乐团主唱阿嘉，在继父的安排下，当起了恒春小镇的邮差，也成了这7封信的传递者。
　　和阿嘉一样，他身边的人都是台湾南部不起眼的小人物，过着自己喜忧参半的生活。老邮递员茂伯，弹得一手好月琴却一辈子没上过舞台；到处点头哈腰的米酒推销员马拉桑，每天面对歧视仍继续着自己的工作；有一身好功夫却只能离开精英部队到乡下当交警的警察；喜欢上老板娘却只能远远爱慕的修车房伙计；甚至来了个日本女人，都是过气的模特……无疑这些都能让观众心有戚戚，从角色身上找到自己的影子。

Queensbay again...

Went to Queensbay the other day with my cousins from Kedah. Again,i was highly appointed as the tour guide =P actually to me there's nothing fun in Queensbay,except for the amusement park,borders bookshop and cinema,i find nothing that interest me... Of course,i went there often because i live near Queens but mainly for meals(dinner) with my family.
Brought them for a stroll aroud Jusco then to the KID's amusement park. Jeez,my brothers and cousins were incredible... They actually spent RM50 for the tokens and finished it within 45 minutes xD After dumping them there,i dozed off on a stool next to the playground...
But i did play one game : "Basketball Scoring Machine,for kids"... Of course la,i broke the record =D haha...
174 game point!! plus 2 long range shot... haha

My cousins are visiting penang today for the second time this year =) They're from Tenom,Sabah. So,i'm appointed as the half day tour guide around Bayan Lepas. haha... We went to Queensbay for shopping.again. And after having our lunch in the Queensbay Food Arena,we went for a walk in Jusco. We played air-hockey,basketball shooting machine and doll-grabbing machine in the small amusement park on the first floor inside jusco when San Jiu came and told us he saw Nicole at the Sports Section.

5 Days Trip to Hong Kong

Well,hi i'm back =D Just came back from my family vacation to Hong Kong,and i'm posting photos in my blog!! Woo... =D

Our trip report:
14th Dec>> Arrive at Hong Kong on 1.00pm sharp,after checking-in to the CityView Hotel in "Yao Ma Tei"(油麻地),we took the Hong Kong MRT to "Wong Tai Sin"(黄大仙) a very famous temple. Then to Stars Avenue in "Tsim Sha Chui"(尖沙咀),gosh we saw Bruce Lee there =D after strolling around,we then went to the cruise harbour for a ride along the sea located between Hong Kong(mainland) and Hong Kong(island). After that we went back to "Yao Ma Tei" and shop at "Lui Yan Gai"(女人街) Its almost the same as kl's Chee Cheong Gai where they sell pirated/fake items. Bought many T-shirts there :) Swt,i can't find "Bo Hai Gai"(波鞋街) which nerry claims that they sell cheap basketball shoes there...

15th Dec>> Woke up at 6am. Then took the MRT again to "Tung Zhung"(大涌). Saw a lot of Hong Kong students boarding the MRT to their schools,gosh...their uniforms are so cute!! Unlike the unlucky schoolboys/girls from M'sia,we wore rags =( urgh! After visiting the Lantau Buddha,we went to Disneyland!! But,i'm damn dissapointed after the day... It's too small! And it's almost nothing compared to Tokyo Disneyland =( haiz...

16thDec>> Woke up on 6am again. Went to Mc'Donalds for breakfast,then go for a one day-tour around Kowloon with a tour guide(Cathay Pacific) which is free!! went to Jewels,Rubies and Crystals Gallery which i'm not interested,then go for a boat ride along the aberdeen sea(香港仔). Saw the cruises where TVB Entertainment shot their 珠光宝气 Drama. Wooo... We cancelled Ocean Park due to lack of time =( too bad... then went to Madam Tussaud's Wax Museum!! Oh yeah,this is the most interesting place i found in Hong Kong.at last. 17th Dec>> Woke up a bit late today. Then board a ferry to Macau. We form a half day-tour with a tour guide there. Then we visit a lot of places which i can't recall their names except... Venetian Casino!! OMG,its the biggest casino in Macau,and kids actually get the chance to go inside =D wosh,it's actually VENICE inside! The ceiling is covered with blue skies(serious!) and they even built italian buildings,bridges even canals inside =O After strolling,we took the MRT back and shop again =)

18thDec>> Last Day! Noooo... Woke up late,then went to HoChoi Restaurant for Dim Sum. Yuck,i still think penang's Dim Sum is the best =D Then took a free shuttle back to the airport. Leaves around 4pm back to penang =)

After fooling around,i've decided to go for my dinner... at mc Donald's :) ordered a set of mcDeluxe and began gobbling it up to save time!

After that we went up to the groundfloor and waited for the arrival of Linda! Wooo...

哇!!好久没有上网了 :'(

今天早上刚从我外婆家「吉打港口」回来。其实我在那儿住好几个礼拜了:) haha

基本上我去那儿有几个目的：

i)照顾小表弟

ii)照顾外婆

iii)去...chemistry补习!

哇靠!去到吉打补习,你看我有多勤劳 =P

其实吉打港口是个很浪漫的地方.有海滩,稻田,河流(污染),小羊,水牛等...

每天早上可以去海边看日出,傍晚去稻田边钓鱼,看日落...浪漫吧! :)

我在那儿已经赶完四部连续剧了!! "命中注定我爱你","家好月圆"(重看),"少年四大名捕"和"尖子攻略" :)

Penang Bridge International Marathon!

Yea,i'm participating in the Penang Bridge Marathon! Thanks to Phern Kern who got me involved :) i'm in the Half Marathon category (25km!) Men's Open. Oh my,this is tough! i've never tried running 25km before! The time limit for the run is 3.5hours,hmm... well,i'll try my best to reach the end point before they send those sweeping buses :)

^The route for my run!^ Almost all my family members are taking part in the marathon. My parents took the Fun Run while my younger brother took the Quarter Run. My youngest brother? He had piano lesson at home... too bad :(

This sure looks nice. The buddha statue and Venerable Wei Wu's seat in front. *To anyone who don't know who he is...Venerable Wei Wu is the abbot of Than Hsiang Temple! And i'm his super fan! joking =) but he is very very nice...

Actually i'm always a weak guy,i might looked tough and steady but i'm soft-hearted and fell sick often...
Went to the BC tuition in Pisa on Sunday morning,its my first time and its Khye Shen who brought me there. There are only about 6 people in the class and imagine me sitting in front of the BIG aircond while i'm suffering from Flu and Fever... Dude,no one told me they turn on their airconds around 16 degrees plus there are about two in the class... I'm shivering the whole morning and trembling till i cant even write my essay(but i'm the first one to finish it!)
so,after the tuition my health status worsens(as expected)...
Monday,i'm taking a sick leave. Fever+Flu+Sorethroat
and... Thanks to nerry for informing the whole form that i've got CHICKEN POX! I nearly lost 10 marks of the Markah Khusus because of YOU...

Thanlin Children's Camp!

Big Day! its the national day plus thanlin's day,yipee! always enjoyed the activities there,haha... Oopsie,supposed to sing the national anthem first: "negaraku,tanah tumpahnya darahku..." swt :P

okay,so as usual i went to play basketball the first thing in the morning,saw ivy there(wow!cool hairstyle!) n played 5-5 with teenagers from Sg Ara,eventually we lost :( due to lack of concentration... then after that we rush home for a quick bathe,meet each other before 8.45am. before reaching thanlin,saw dead mice beside the road with it's intestine all over the body,oh my... OM MANI PADME HUM... thats the magic word whenever i saw dead beings,its for leading the soul of the dead to somewhere i'm not sure,paiseh yar... so we reached thanlin on 9 sharp,late... so me,nerry,khye shen,phenkern,zhaomin and minghui are divided into 5 teams. my team name is Uppala-vanna,weird name... we're all so honoured to be the working comeetees!!

Zhaomin's father(Mr. Chou) giving instructions to the kids. saw the big brown pillows tied onto their stomach? well,it's suppose to be their "baby" according to the story :) nice? but eventually it turned out to be their bowlsters for pillow fights... oh my buddha...

The kids are tied up with orange scarves over their eyes and hand to be the OKU,haha... they looked so cute but i cant deny that they're very naughty especially the boys... urgh,super-active... i even had headache even to think about it...

The Fruitplate Game! well,its zhaomin's idea but i turned out to be a failure... oops :P some kids just remained rooted at their position while some just yell and ran all over the circle even though its not their turn... i think they just cant understand the rules of the game

Uppala-vanna Go Go Go!! my team won the "most valueable art prize" haha... thanks to me,i'm the one who inspirate them and gave them support,love and care :)

晚上online,看到了招月,马上问她干嘛不去檀林净苑佛堂举办的children's camp。这个camp基本上是要教育我们的后辈关于佛学(dharma)和感恩(gratitude)的大理,由于地方较小,小孩人数很多所以我们这些男子汉被邀请当一天的志工(“爱心哥哥”会比较好听吧)不过讲来讲去,在某些地方还是须要“爱心姐姐”帮忙的嘛...为了要“强迫”招月去参与,只好与zhaomin和nerry一起跟她讲道理,虽然最后还是失败但是重点不在这里...

到了nerry的家，哇靠！原来他都还没醒...无话可形容,swt!五分钟过后他才慢慢走出来...

骑着脚踏车,全Penang最stim的三个人竟然要从sg nibong踏去Tesco...也许别人听了都会笑我们神经病,可是我们对脚车的热情是不会变的!今天骑去Tesco 罢了,上次我们更精彩,竟然骑去jelutong pasar和槟城蛇庙（Bayan Lepas）,飞机场那边,哈哈...我们三人组够利害吧!我们下次的目标可能是踏完全槟岛喔,老实说我们也可能是疯了...
从Sg Nibong高速公路去到Tesco和e-gate那里大概七公里,吓到吧?虽然路程还蛮远的,可是我们通常只用了十七分钟就gaodim了。回的时候,我们通常都顺路弯进USM里面兜个大圈出来,因为那里有一段超斜的路,从上面踏下来的feel真的很爽!有空去试试吧 :)

斗牛.要不要？一到家就立刻搬出我冷冻的DVD player,马上想把那二十辑的偶像剧一次过看完。饭也不吃,水也不喝就一直追到晚上...终于在第二天赶完了,fuuh这就是我的假期计划 :P 其实我觉得这斗牛要不要的剧情还蛮差的,太普遍了啦...那野蛮的伊胜雪(hebe)还有那太酷的沈若贺(贺军翔)的爱情故事也太闷了吧,一个有钱帅哥要追个傻女但是被家人阻止的故事我听都听到腻了...不过我超喜欢那些"斗牛"时刻,老实说贺军翔和李威的球技还蛮劲爆的,刺激!不过我还是比较期待篮球火，毕竟篮球火的戏剧阵容较强，有很多人气小天王如吴尊啦,小猪啦,言成旭啦都很棒。好想看!

毕业照!

嘿!今天是我班拍毕业照的大日子a...哇靠!为了爱美,我练了一整晚的微笑,希望可以拍得endao一点,毕竟这是一个很重要的回忆啊...哪里知道早上起来,我的眼镜又红又肿,应该是睡眠不足吧(-.-") 还好回到学校一切都正常了,aiyo害我担心到要死...lol...

最最sien的physics节终于过了,YESS!全班直接high起来,本来还在睡梦中的同学全部都跳起来了...哈哈,每个人为了要帅都忙着绑好tie,一些还拿着handphone到处去拍(我lo)...

排好队后我们很'威风'地走下楼，哇靠！全班静静的,哈哈,很奇怪a...走到摄影棚外面,我们看到了两面大镜子,同学们直接冲上前去'弄'头发,haiz...只有我比较醒目,拿着一罐Gatsby Hair Cream躲进厕所里自己settle...我觉得他们越来越可爱,全部人挤在一堆怎样弄好头发嘛？我开始理解了古人的名言：爱美不要命 哇靠！一直以来我还以为只有女子才会如此,哪里知道钟灵的男生为了帅简直不要命,为了几根头发在那边挤来挤去...没眼看!

进到摄影棚,那个洪老师才讲我的眼镜太yeng了,不适合...haiz,没办法lo,只好脱眼镜拍...不过也没关系啦,反正我也够帅了,haha...

Just now around 6.45pm when i'm on the way home after playing basketball in the SriNibong basketball court,me,nerry n sokhai saw an incident... Snatch thief! Pity we don't have the chance to chase and catch him... According to the joggers(aunties) the snatcher was a malay wearing a T'shirt with stripes on it. After snatching he tried to escape with an ex5 motorbike but was stopped by a huge malay man(the one wearing blue shirt in the pic) I don't really saw the whole incident,we heard people shouting and yelling but when we reached there,its too late,the snatcher escaped on foot... The funny part is,that guy left his bike there! That's an important evidence my dear officers,please make sure you all did your jobs...
I'm so so ANGRY! God,why dont you give me a chance? If...i'm on the spot,there is no way the snatcher could escape,no way at all...
SUPERMAN,looks like its the time for you to show up...

Psst... For those who are interested in buying 4D's or TOTO's,the number plates for the snatcher's bike and the police car are 7561 and 4561

都是我们的add math ah sir啦，给我们班什么dynamic啦,transparency啦，还有很多超废的名字，拍写我忘记了...其实也不能怪我没有专心，因为hor在他的每一节班上一半的人都在睡觉，当然包括我在内啦...swt...

haiz...我们班最好的老师就是我们的ex-bio老师，不知道为什么她能教到这样好，哇靠！她才二十几岁罢了，简直就是我们的大姐嘛...现在她离开钟灵了，全班人都伤心难过:( 因为我们少了一个给分很高的老师啊！

哇靠！现在来的bio老师够力lo,动不动就要扣分...没带课本？扣！迟进lab?扣！喂,在后面睡觉的，没看到我在教书ar?扣！连我这个乖学生都被扣两分了，其他的学生真的没眼看...

但愿我们敬爱的惠菁老师能在教育界里打出一片天空！cheers!
